BREAKING GROUND. BUILDING BUSINESS. BRIGHTENING FUTURES.
For decades the Fogelman College of Business and Economics (FCBE) has been a leader in workforce development for Tennessee and the Mid-South. Our 30,000+ alumni, faculty and staff have made amazing contributions to our business communities and academic fields of study. And the state of Tennessee is really on the move. The growing population, expanding business environment and an increased need for modern workforce development are driving enhanced demand for career-ready graduates across high-wage, high-demand sectors. The Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis is uniquely positioned to help meet this demand, but its efforts are significantly hindered by the physical and functional limitations of its current facilities. These constraints directly impact FCBE’s ability to grow enrollment, enhance student engagement, recruit and compete for top talent and meet regional workforce needs.
It is time for a change.
We are extremely excited to announce the plans for the new Avron and Robert Fogelman Business Complex. This project aims to transform the existing business buildings located on the corner of Central Avenue and Patterson Street into a state-of-the-art learning center. In addition to the complete renovation of our current facilities, a brand-new building will be added to conjoin the renovated existing spaces.
The total investment needed for the new Avron and Robert Fogelman Business Complex is $90M. The State of Tennessee has allocated $25M toward the $30M renov
We aspire to raise the additional $60M for the new addition through a combination of donor and state funding. Please consider helping us on this transformational journey. We are in this together.

The Time To Invest is Now
Our buildings are showing the effects of their age and heavy usage. The building modernization plan is not a simple band-aid fix, but rather a complete overhaul to existing space and construction for a new third building. These upgrades will move our college into the future. Consider an investment today in our students, our college, our university and our community. Let’s work together to elevate FCBE and create spaces to encourage collaboration, confidence and, ultimately, produce the next generation of leaders for a vibrant business community.
